Senior Tax Accountant

As the Senior Tax Accountant, you will:

-Provide functional direction on the administration of federal, state, and local tax controls
-Perform and ensure that tax remittances are accurate and timely and in compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and requirements
-Provide a thorough knowledge of interpreting and applying tax laws and regulations impacting the company
-Provide recommendations and do the application of tax laws that have a major financial impact on the company

Responsibilities

-Highly influential in determining ongoing tax updates and legislation changes as it relates to the company
-Provide guidance on tax updates and legislation changes as they relate to the policies of the company
-Review the work of others in a timely manner and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and requirements
-Keep up to date with regulatory changes and case law that have a direct impact on tax clients
-Perform tax research as needed and be able to communicate routine and more complex tax issues to clients.
-Responsible for reviewing Level 1 (1040) and Level 2 (1120/1120s/1065)
-Accountable for preparing Level 3 returns (990/1041/760) -Liable for level 1 audit representation
-Lead, manage, and be accountable for staff-level training
-Client meetings and briefings
-Providing customer experience and team building
-Understanding of business entities and structures, as well as trusts and estates.

Qualifications

-Bachelor’s degree required
-Masters in taxation is preferred
-CPA or EA License is preferred
-2+ years of relevant experience in a public accounting practice
-2+ years of complex corporate, partnership, and individual tax returns
-Significant experience with complex corporate, partnership, and individual tax returns. Including the preparation of specialized partnership allocation and multi-state filings.
-Substantial experience with tax planning and long-term tax structuring
-Experience in setting-up 1031 exchanges and 754 adjustments
-Experience with year-end estate and trust work is a plus
-Proficient with QuickBooks
-Experience or comparable experience with Lacerte, Smart Vault, CCH is a plus
-Ability to research tax issues and resolve them independently -Strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to articulate to clients
-Able to work in a fast-paced environment with project deadlines and the ability to multitask
-Authorized to work in the US

Salary, Hours & Location

-40 hours per week, 4 ten-hour days
-Exempt salary of $70,000 to $90,000
-In-person, Tustin, CA
